New Strategic Visit to China Strengthens International Collaboration
In recent years, scientific collaboration between BCMaterials and Chinese universities, research institutes, and companies has continued to grow through joint projects, research stays, and cooperation agreements. This strategic partnership was further strengthened in May through a two-week visit to China by BCMaterials Scientific Director Senentxu Lanceros-Méndez and Ikerbasque Research Professor Qi Zhang.
During their visit, they travelled to several Chinese cities, meeting with companies and technology centres working on advanced materials for sustainable energy generation and storage. They also visited major research infrastructures, including the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility, one of the world’s leading synchrotron laboratories.
As part of the programme, Lanceros-Méndez and Zhang delivered invited lectures at several prestigious institutions. At the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, they presented their latest research on efficient and sustainable energy storage technologies. At Wuhan University of Technology, they shared advances in magnetically responsive materials, membrane technologies, and innovative approaches for battery recycling.

The visit also included participation in the 6th International Conference on Spintronics and Spintronic Materials (WUN), held in Suzhou. There, both researchers presented their work on magnetoelectric materials for spintronic applications, highlighting the potential of these advanced materials for next-generation electronic devices.
This visit reinforces BCMaterials’ commitment to fostering international scientific cooperation and strengthening strategic partnerships with leading institutions in China in areas of mutual interest and high societal impact.
