BCMaterials shows its work in additive manufacturing at the 'First Lego League' event

BCMaterials presented its research work on new materials through additive manufacturing within the framework of one of the 'First Lego League' tournaments that took place in the Basque Country on March 2. We participated in the science and technology stands that were installed at the Vitoria-Gasteiz tournament, organized by the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
FIRST LEGO League is an international STEAM education program aimed at developing scientific-technological skills and vocations that brings together nearly 650,000 young people across 110 countries. Each edition ends with the organization of a set of tournaments in which the participating teams present the results of the activities carried out over the previous months.
At the stand located in the area called Opengune, we showed the numerous attendees how to print smart materials in order to achieve more effective and sustainable sensors and actuators. To do this, we explained how our scientists mix polymeric materials with material particles with added properties such as conductivity, thermochromism or magnetism.
The Opengune stand was the final stop of BCMaterials' participation in this edition of the 'First Lego League' in Euskadi. Previously, in January we offered an online training session on additive manufacturing to the students participating in the competition. Responding to the challenge of how to turn your hobby into a useful tool for those around you, we talked about the possibilities that 3D printing offers. It is a technology economically and technologically accessible to many people. It is ideal for students with STEAM vocations because it can start as a hobby at home and end up working in technology and research centers such as BCMaterials offering advanced applications in fields such as the Internet of Things, Industry 4.0 and even biotechnology.
We would like to thank Innobasque and the vice-rectorate of Scientific-Social Development and Transfer of the UPV/EHU for inviting as to take part in this great scientific outreach event.
Good luck to the Basque winning teams who will participate in the Spanish finals on March 16 in Alicante!!
