Invited Talk with Karolina Milowska (November 6)
BCMaterials continues its series of invited scientific lectures with a talk by Dr. Karolina Milowska, Ikerbasque Research Fellow at CIC nanoGUNE. The talk will take place on November 6 at 12:00 PM in the auditorium of the Martina Casiano Building, BCMaterials headquarters.
Dr. Milowska will present a lecture titled “From Ultrahigh Magnetic Fields to Interface Engineering: A Multiscale Modelling Paradigm for Nanomaterials in Extreme Environments.”

BCMaterials will host a new invited talk by Professor André Pereira from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (Portugal) and IFIMUP – Institute of Physics for Advanced Materials, Nanotechnology and Photonics. The event will take place on November 3 at 11:00 AM in the auditorium of the Martina Casiano Building, BCMaterials headquarters.
‘BeZientzia’: 200 Schoolchildren Become Scientists for a Day
On October 28th and 29th, the ‘BeZientzia’ science fair took place in Bilbao, bringing together nearly 200 sixth-grade students from schools across Bizkaia. BCMaterials was one of the four organizing institutions, alongside Achucarro – Basque Center for Neuroscience, BC3 – Basque Center for Climate Change, and BCAM – Basque Center for Applied Mathematics. All four centers are part of the BERC (Basque Excellence Research Centers) network in Bizkaia.
Invited Talk with César Fernández Sánchez (October, 7)
On October 7th, starting at 11:00 a.m., BCMaterials will host a new invited talk. This time, the keynote speaker will be César Fernández Sánchez, a researcher at the Barcelona Institute of Microelectronics (IMB-CNM, CSIC), who will present his work entitled "The potential of compact electrochemical tools in the point-of-care detection of clinical biomarkers."
Invited Talk with Akio Kimura (October 3)
BCMaterials is proud to host Akio Kimura, Professor at the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering of the Hiroshima University (Japan) in a new invited talk. The event will take place on October 3 at the auditorium of the Martina Casiano building, headquarters of BCMaterials. The talk is set to start at 12:00.
Prof. Kimura will present the talk titled: “Probing Electronic Structures of Heusler-type Metamagnetic Shape Memory Alloys by Synchrotron Spectroscopy”.
Invited Talk with Raynald Gauvin (July, 16)
On July 16, starting at 11:00 a.m., in the auditorium of the Martina Casiano Building (BCMaterials headquarters), we will host an invited talk by Professor Raynald Gauvin from the Department of Mining and Materials Engineering at McGill University, Canada.
Professor Gauvin will present his talk titled "Chemical Analysis of Lithium in Battery Materials with High Spatial Resolution Using EDS and EELS in the Electron Microscope."
A Week Dedicated to Quantum Dots at BCMaterials
From June 30th to July 2nd, BCMaterials hosted the second workshop of the MSCA doctoral network "Track the Twin," of which our center is a member. This European project aims to enhance the performance and durability of quantum dots through the development of digital twins.
Training Future Professionals in Functional Printing
From June 25 to 27, BCMaterials hosted a specialized course on functional printing, organized in collaboration with the Functional Print Cluster. The course brought together nearly 40 participants from companies, technology centers, and vocational training institutions. It offered comprehensive theoretical and practical training in functional manufacturing and printed electronics using advanced materials.
Succesful joint symposium with Instituto Biofisika
On June, 19 we hosted the ‘Processes and Materials for Life’ symposium, organized jointly with Instituto Biofisika. The goal of the symposium was to share the common knowledge of both centers on cutting-edge research with potential applications in healthcare, sustainability and beyond.
