Training Future Professionals in Functional Printing

From June 25 to 27, BCMaterials hosted a specialized course on functional printing, organized in collaboration with the Functional Print Cluster. The course brought together nearly 40 participants from companies, technology centers, and vocational training institutions. It offered comprehensive theoretical and practical training in functional manufacturing and printed electronics using advanced materials.

The teaching team consisted of BCMaterials researchers and experts in various disciplines related to functional printing processes, including material synthesis, ink formulation, inkjet printing, and the design, development, and implementation of functional devices.

Participants expressed their satisfaction with the knowledge gained during the three-day course. The initiative was particularly valuable for students involved in the INFINITE project, part of the European Erasmus+ program. One of the project's objectives, in which the Functional Print Cluster is a partner, is to train educators in vocational training programs specializing in functional printing.

In addition to the theoretical and practical sessions, special mention should be made of Amaya Igartua, Coordinator of Materials Initiatives at the TEKNIKER research center and co-secretary of the European Materials Platform (EUMAT). Igartua delivered a presentation on the landscape of advanced materials in Europe, highlighting EU stakeholders and resources involved in developing strategies for these materials. Furthermore, participants visited the GAIKER technology center as a complementary component of the training.
