Joel Villatoro, New BCMaterials Research Associate

We would like to warmly welcome Dr. Joel Villatoro as a new associate researcher of BCMaterials. Villatoro, an Ikerbasque Research Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in Bilbao, joins our center to work in the framework of the Micro and Nano-devices research line.
Thanks to his experience in applied photonics, Dr. Villatoro will help BCMaterials develop advanced and multifunctional materials for the creation of photonic prototypes and devices with applications in different areas.
Along with his long academic career, Joel Villatoro credits a very notable research experience with 6 international patents, nearly a hundred papers in magazines and almost another hundred of communications at conferences, more than 6,000 citations and an h-index 44 in Google Scholar. Additionally, he is editor and participates in the editorial board of several scientific publications such as Journal of Lightwave Technology (IEEE / Optica), Sensors and Actuators Reports (Elsevier), Frontiers in Sensors (Frontiers) and Optics & Photonics News (Optica).
Likewise, he is a senior member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and a member of OPTICA (Optical Society of America).
