Davide Spirito, New Ramón y Cajal fellow researcher

We welcome Dr. Davide Spirito, who recently joined BCMaterials as a Ramón y Cajal fellow. Dr. Spirito got his PhD in Condensed Matter Physics from Roma Tre university in 2012. Since then, his multidisciplinary background comprises topics in the field of semiconductors, spectroscopy, nanomaterials, nanofabrication, energy harvesting and the development of optoelectronic devices.

Strong reinforcement for the advanced functional materials and surfaces line

BCMaterials significantly reinforces its advanced functional materials and surfaces research line with the incorporation of a new Ikerbasque Research Associate, Dr. Reyes Calvo. At the same time as Calvo, postdoctoral researcher Lisa Almonte and predoctoral researchers Eudomar Henríquez and Juan David Cortés have joined BCMaterials.

Maibelín Rosales, New Marie Curie Postdoctoral Researcher at BCMaterials

Our center is happy to receive Dr. Maibelin Rosales as a post-doctoral researcher with a Marie Curie scholarship. After achieving her PhD in Materials Science from the University of Chile, Rosales has developed an important research career at the Advanced Mining Technology Center (AMTC) of the University of Chile. There she specialized in the design of nanomaterials activated with sunlight for the water remediation and also for the generation of green hydrogen from the decomposition of water molecules.

Scientific Visit and Invited Talks by BCMaterials in Brazil

The Edmond and Lilly Safra National Institute of Neurosciences in Natal (Brazil) received the scientific director of BCMaterials, Senentxu Lanceros-Méndez, in early May. During his visit, Lanceros-Méndez had the opportunity to establish ties for future collaborations with the center's researchers. Likewise, he offered the invited talk titled “Smart materials for biomedicine: sensors, actuators and active microenvironments for tissue regeneration.”

Jorge Saiz, New Ramón y Cajal Researcher at BCMaterials

We are happy to receive Jorge Saiz Galindo as new Ramón y Cajal Fellow, post-doctoral researcher in BCMaterials.

Dr. Saiz obtained his degree in Biology and his PhD at the University of Alcalá, in Madrid. During this time and, subsequently, at CSIC and the University San Pablo CEU, he specialized in using innovative chromatographic and mass spectrometry techniques for the study of several fields, such as Forensics, food contaminants or metabolomics in the study of biological problems.
