The First BCMaterials PhD Day: A Resounding Success

On May 27 and 28, BCMaterials hosted the first edition of its PhD Day, a new initiative designed to support predoctoral researchers and undergraduate and master's students completing their training at the centre. The event aimed to provide guidance on doctoral studies, research careers, and professional opportunities in science and technology. It also offered an opportunity for first-year PhD candidates to present their research plans, while those approaching the completion of their theses showcased the results of their doctoral work.

New Successful Edition of Pint of Science Bilbao Outreach Talks

From May 18 to 20, a new edition of Pint of Science Bilbao once again transformed bars and everyday spaces across the city into vibrant meeting points between science and the public. As a co-organizer and sponsor of the event, BCMaterials warmly welcomes the success of this year’s edition, which brought together researchers, science communicators, and citizens for three days of inspiring discussions on some of today’s most relevant scientific challenges.

Invited Talk by Liu Yao on Lithium-Metal Batteries (December 2)

Next Monday, December 2, Liu Yao, professor at the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, will give an invited lecture at BCMaterials entitled ‘Li-Metal Batteries: From Liquid to Solid-State’. The lecture will take place in the auditorium of the Martina Casiano building, home to BCMaterials, on the University of the Basque Country's science campus in Leioa, starting at 11:00 AM.

Water Remediation and Clean Batteries at EHU’s Science Week

BCMaterials once again played a prominent role at the University of the Basque Country’s (EHU) Science Week, held from November 5–9. Our center took part throughout all five days of the largest science outreach event in the Basque Country.

Hundreds of visitors—from school groups to families—stopped by our science corner, where we showcased the potential of new materials for environmental remediation and sustainable energy generation through five hands-on demonstrations.

Invited Talk with Karolina Milowska (November 6)

BCMaterials continues its series of invited scientific lectures with a talk by Dr. Karolina Milowska, Ikerbasque Research Fellow at CIC nanoGUNE. The talk will take place on November 6 at 12:00 PM in the auditorium of the Martina Casiano Building, BCMaterials headquarters.

Dr. Milowska will present a lecture titled “From Ultrahigh Magnetic Fields to Interface Engineering: A Multiscale Modelling Paradigm for Nanomaterials in Extreme Environments.”
