Stephania Rodríguez, New Predoctoral Researcher

We would like to welcome Stephania Rodríguez Muiña as a new predoctoral researcher at BCMaterials. This young scientist joins our center to work on the Micro and Nanodevices research line, within the framework of the Marie Curie Doctoral Network ECLectic. This European project aims at the early diagnosis of sepsis using electrochemolinoscence. BCMaterials is one of the 12 members of the international consortium working on the project.

After obtaining a double degree in Physics and Chemistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), Stephania worked in Austria as a junior scientist at Johanneum Research Materials, where she participated in the manufacturing of Lab-on-a-Chip microfluidic devices for point-of-care testing using imprinting technologies.

This year she completed a Master's Degree in Nanoscale Engineering in France, coordinated by the Ecole Centrale de Lyon, INSA and UCBL. Her master's thesis was based on the development of an electrochemical biosensor platform to manage the metabolic conditions of cell cultures.

During her time at BCMaterials, Stephania will develop, together with Ikerbasque Professor Javier del Campo, an automated microfluidic system for the early diagnosis of sepsis using electrochemiluminescence.
