Graphene-based derivatives: Synthesis and Application in Energy Storage and Conversion by Boštjan Genorio
We are pleased to announce the invited talk given by Dr. Boštjan Genorio, Asst. Professor at Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia about “Graphene-based derivatives: Synthesis and Application in Energy Storage and Conversion”.
Carbon is considered a key element of life and the life sciences. With the isolation of graphene - a 2D carbon allotrope - in 2004, the popularity of carbon has also reached materials science. The main reason for the hype around graphene is its exceptional mechanical, thermal, electrical and optical properties. Since 2004, graphene-based materials have shown potential applications in: composites, sensors, transistors, spin valves, RFID tags, flexible displays, ultrafast lasers, nano-health (drug delivery systems, cancer therapy, and biological imaging), and energy-related devices (supercapacitors, ultralight batteries.). In order to exploit all the properties of graphene-based materials, we first need to understand the current limits of synthesis, structure-property trends, and characterization of synthesized graphene materials.
In my talk, I will give an overview of different approaches to the synthesis and functionalization of graphene-based derivatives that we have developed in recent years. I will also discuss the application of graphene-based derivatives in energy storage and conversion systems. The talk will conclude with an outlook on the future.
The talk will be on September 28th at 11:00.
The event is free and open for everybody, it will be at the Martina Casiano Auditorium and online via TEAMS with the following link:
