‘Quantum Dot Computations’ Workshop at BCMaterials (June, 30- July, 1)

On June 30th and July 1st, BCMaterials will host the workshop "Quantum Dot Computations," organized within the framework of the MSCA "Track the Twin" doctoral network, of which our center is a member. The event will bring together internationally renowned figures in the theoretical and computational field of quantum dots, such as E. Rabani (UC Berkeley), O. Voznyy (University of Toronto), J. I. Climente (Universitat Jaume I), N. Yazdani (ETH Zurich), C. Delerue (Université de Lille), and I. Infante (BCMaterials).
The presentations will review surface dynamics, electron-phonon coupling, excited state dynamics, strong binding models, classical and machine learning force field theory, and density functional theory.

The ‘Track the Twin’ project aims to enhance the long-term performance of quantum dots through the creation of digital twins. Quantum dots enable us to develop better and more efficient electronic devices — for instance, televisions with superior image quality and lower energy consumption. They are also utilized in renewable energy generation technologies, and their potential in biotechnology is actively being explored. These applications require quantum dots to withstand constant stresses, including continuous illumination, elevated temperatures, and exposure to environmental factors.
