Invited Talk with Aaron Mailman (May 20th)

BCMaterials is proud to host Dr. Aaron Mailman, Academy of Finland Research Fellow at the University of Jyväskylä (Finland) in a new invited talk. The talk is titled: “Organic Radicals as Functional Materials” and it will start at 11:00 at the Martina Casiano auditorium (BCMaterials headquarters).
Organic radicals have emerged as promising building blocks for functional materials due to their technologically relevant properties, including ferromagnetism, electrical conductivity, and molecular bistability. Unlike closed-shell molecules, the open-shell nature of radicals enables unique electronic and magnetic behaviors, making them attractive for next-generation electronics, sensors, and information storage.
Dr. Mailman’s group work has focused on stable heterocyclic thiazyl radicals (and their heavier selenium analogs), which exhibit tunable electronic properties and predictable solid-state assembly, offering a versatile platform for materials design.
