PhD Fellowships

The PhD program in Materials Science and Technology is a modern program of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) which is promoted by faculty members of several Departments (Chemistry, Physics, Geology,…) of the Faculty of Science and Technology, many of them developing their research in BCMaterials. The supervisors of the program have a long tradition in design, synthesis, characterization and application of new materials.

The PhD candidates will have access to a large choose of research subjects, covering most functional and smart materials of technological importance, as offered by the excellence research groups of the program. The formation achieved is multidisciplinary, with direct training in advanced techniques of synthesis, processing and characterization of materials, which allow establishing the correlation between the properties of the materials and their structure at different scales.

The program is aimed to provide the highest level of training and qualification in Materials for R&D activities as well as for industry. The successful PhD researchers will be able to develop by themselves an original and innovative research as well as to lead the incorporation of the upcoming scientific and technological advances to the production plants. Training of material Scientists and Engineers is advanced materials is a requisite for the advance of industries with a large technological basis. In this context, the program has close collaborations with local and European industries and Technology Centers in Materials.

This PhD has a recognition of level 4 in the Spanish Framework of High Education Qualifications (MECES) and a level 8 in the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

Undergraduate Students

We offer the possibility to develop research activities that could lead to the final graduation work, as well as summer internships for students in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, biotechnologist and Electronic and Chemical Engineering.
